STABLES: I CAVALLI DEL PODERE

I’m Alessandro and our horse-riding stables are the result of my lifelong love for these splendid creatures.

I have attempted to create a little “equestrian” paradise to share with our guests. However, as I 1spend much of my day in the vegetable plot, between the rows of vines producing the grapes that are turned into wine in my cellar, among the 900 olive trees producing our extra virgin olive oil, under the fruit trees producing our delicious cherries, apples and plums, and looking after the farm animals, I don’t always get to spend as much time as I would like with my beloved horses; I’m hoping that you’ll give me the excuse I need to be “pleasantly obliged” – thanks to you – to spend more time with my faithful equine friends.

I have created “I cavalli del Podere” on a flat plot of land with a panoramic view of the farm; there is a spacious sand arena (20m x 40m) and a round pen (diameter 15m).

We have several horses for guests to ride:
MAIA Sicilian horse
ERICA Halflinger horse-sturdy and suitable for adults
MISTRAL Fresian horse
CARAMELLA sweet pony
NUTELLA Shetland pony
Then there are our own horses:
OTRANTO: Vittorio’s anglo- arab-sardininan horse
NERITA: Alessandro’s anglo-arab horse

We can, on request, arrange to teach clients the basic skills needed to either ride in the ring, or to venture on a ride in the countryside. Alessandro is, in fact, fully certified to both evaluate person’s riding ability to determine whether or not they have the necessary skills to go for a cross-country trek and to teach them what they need to do.

Riding lessons in the ring: for every hour per hour € 28,00; half hour € 16,00 , minimum age 6 year.

Horse trekking: for every hour per hour € 28,00; half hour € 16,00 minimum age 14 year.

For younger guests (age 4-10 years):
our Shetland pony, NUTELLA, will carry them on 10 min rides (on a lead rope) around the ring + helping us to prepare the pony to be ridden, and making sure she is clean and comfortable afterwards € 7,00
